This work evaluated the encoder RDO correlations across 2160p, 1080p and 540p encodings of the same video for conventional ABR schemes. A multi-encoding scheme which significantly improves the computational efficiency of conventional ABR encoding is modelled, evaluated and validated using x265 HEVC encoder.

This work also demonstrated the impact of hardware aware optimizations in the encoding speeds of the next generation video codecs. The work is evaluated using Arowana XVC encoder.
