Bachelors Academic Projects

1. Film Grain in Video Compression
Brief: Designed a guided filter assisted de-noising filter to handle film grain in videos. Quantization matrices for the x265 HEVC encoder were modeled with respect to the statistical properties of the video content.
Guides: Deepthi Nandakumar, Engineering Manager, x265, MulticoreWare Inc and Gayathri N, Asst. Professor, Amrita School of Engineering

2. Comparative Performance Evaluation of Transform coding in Image Pre-processing
Brief: Comparative evaluation of Compressed sensing, Integer wavelet transform and Singular value decomposition which could be used at the transmitter-end in order to ease the transmission and reconstruction of the images. Investigated the performance, necessary conditions, properties and time-complexity.
Guide: Gayathri N, Asst. Professor, Amrita School of Engineering

3. Floating Point Adder in FPGA
Brief: Minimized the LUTs and hardware required for the complex floating point operations in Xilinx Spartan 6 FPGA. Analyzed to the root level of basic digital blocks to reduce the resources used.
Guide: Kuruvilla Varghese, Principal Research Scientist, DESE, IISc
